Chairwoman: Central bank can do without key rate hike so far
ST. PETERSBURG, Jun 7 (PRIME) -- Russia’s central bank can so far do without raising the key rate, and its slower decline is possible, Chairwoman Elvira Nabiullina said at a congress on Thursday.
“Despite the rate reductions that have taken place, our policy remains moderately tight, that’s why we have some room – we can so far do without increasing the rate. We can lower the rate at a slower pace if necessary. But we do not see such risks of a rate hike so far,” she said.
In late April, the regulator kept the key rate unchanged at 7.25%, while the next meeting on the issue is scheduled for June 15.
